If you don’t own a plaid piece, you’re missing out. From plaid blazers, to skirts and pants, plaid is here to stay. The traditional print is getting new light and is experiencing a crazy wave. Long before it was trendy, I was sporting plaid and when it’s no longer on fashion’s hit list, I will still sport the print.
So we know plaid is popular, but how do you wear it and still look fashionable and not a school girl in private school? I have three tips to help you nail it.
Find the Perfect Plaid Print
This is very subjective. There’s really no right or wrong here.Decide which print looks good on you. I like all plaid print, from traditional red or blue plaid all the way down to very small square plaid print with fall colors– plaid can do no wrong in my book.
For this look, I opted for red plaid shorts.
Style Your Plaid Piece
You’ve found the perfect plaid print that works for you. Great! Next step, is to style your plaid piece. I suggest sticking with a black or white tops and a pop of color for your coat or shoes.
For me, I picked a white button front blouse.I added a mustard moto jacket for my pop of color.
Add Flavor to Your Plaid Look
This is the key part. Plaid is such a traditional print, but it doesn’t have to be. Add some flavor to the mix. Team your plaid pieces with floral, polka-dot or graphic prints. Don’t forget about leopard print. If you like to save your fun for your accessories think cross-body belt bags, edgy boots , and stylish hats.
I decided to add lace-up leather boots to my look for an edgier feel. My chain cross body bag added to the vibe.
I hope these style notes will help you nail your next plaid look!
