Are you a “Label Girl?” You know , the woman who only swears by designer pieces. The lady who refuses to wear anything other than Balmain or Louboutin. Are you her? Don’t be her and I’ll tell you why. You’re missing out on some really cool pieces and of course, you could really save a ton of money! Designer doesn’t equal fashion forward or best dressed. It only says expensive. It doesn’t matter where it came from as long as you can style it. Throw a Gap tee in the mix. Add an H&M blazer, and for the absolute win add a one-of-kind vintage find from the thrift store. After I noticed how much Solange, my sister in my head mixed high end and affordable pieces together I realized it’s the norm.
I understand we all love designer threads, but to limit my wardrobe to pieces from European Fashion Powerhouses….no ma’am that won’t happen. There’s always a balance and for me it’s vintage finds from the thrift store. I always find gems, like this awesomely-amazing cream beaded and embroidered pencil skirt. It actually comes with a matching jacket that I wore HERE .
This skirt is a statement piece and you remember what I said about statement pieces? They add value to your closet. This skirt will work well with a silk white blouse or I could make it edgy and add a sleek leather moto jacket.
In this case I was going for Team Sexy, so I a paired the pencil skirt with my favorite (aka, I wear it all the time) cream-colored leather bustier cropped top from bebe.
Simple, sleek, and every bit of sexy nude sandals finished this look.
The focal point of this look is the skirt. The detailing is breathtaking. I only paid $12 for this piece and I think it adds the same value to my closet as say a designer pencil skirt would. Do you have a balance of high and low pieces in your closet?
