OMG, Empire is my favorite show right now and seems like I’m not alone. For the seventh consecutive week viewership has increased. Ratings are rising in an unprecedented way.
Nearly 14 million people tuned in Wednesday night to check out “Cookie and Luscious Lyons” and all of their family drama.
If you’re not watching this show , you should. Here’s a brief synopsis on the Lee Daniels and Danny Strong created show. Luscious Lyons, played by Terrence Howard is a music mogul (think P. Diddy) who is battling with ALS. Luscious is trying to decide which of his three sons will take on his empire if he succumbs to his illness.
At the center of all this is Taraji P. Henson’s character,Cookie Lyons. Cookie is an ex-con who was recently released from prison after serving 17 years on drug charges. The drug money Cookie made helped start the Empire Recording Company and jump start Luscious’s career.
The three sons are all three dimensional and dynamic. Hakeem, the youngest son, has mommy abandonment issues. Jamal who the middle son is gay and struggling with coming out because it goes against his father’s wishes. Andre is the oldest son and the only child that’s not musically talented. He’s also bipolar and contemplated suicide on Wednesday night’s episode.
The show has pulled in guest stars like Naomi Campbell, Courtney Love, Mary J. Blige , Snoop, and Jennifer Hudson. Not to mention the cast is full of all star actors and the music is produced by super producer Timberland.
