Gingham has grown up and I’m here for the fresh approach. It’s a little less cute and way more cool. The pieces are super chic. Designers are giving us sleek, modern, and tailored options like this pencil skirt from Who What Wear X Target Collection.
Remember when I said less cute and more cool? That was my thought pattern with this skirt. I went totally modern in an effort to throw out the old vintage idea of the pattern.
I paired the pencil skirt with a faux leather bralette top I scored from Forever 21 during an awesome earlier this year. I draped my favorite sleeveless vest on top and added my Justfab “Catherina” heel sandals.
I played up the drama with a red lipstick, black leather choker, and black fringe earrings to finish the look. This is a great way to style the print if you’re looking for a way to wear the pattern for a night out.
This skirt is turning out to be the perfect gingham piece, because it can work for day and night. The sleek skirt can be worn to work or after hours. It can also transition from season to season. Here, it’s giving me all the summer feels but it will also give good vibes this fall when I ditch the leather bralette for a leather moto jacket.
