Temperatures are scorching and the heat index is ridiculous right now, but I still reach for my favorite black dress to slip on. Little Black Dresses are staples in closets everywhere. The dresses are versatile, works for every occasion, and can solve the pesky ” What should I wear” question in a snap.
I must admit, I’m the fashion girl that’s obsessed with all things black, but let’s face it during the summer you can run the risk of “looking” hot in all black when you’re actually chill as cucumber. And that’s because darker colors tend to attract more heat. But what if I tell you that you can still sport your favorite Little Black Dress in the summer while still staying cool and chic. It’s all about picking the right fabrics and silhouette.
Try breathable fabrics. Look for pieces that are lightweight. Cutouts and eyelets also allow air in, making things cooler. Whether you opt for spaghetti straps, go sleeveless or select an off the shoulder dress each are summer chic.
I opted for a Jones New York sleeveless faux wrap dress that I picked up at my favorite thrift store. The LBD features a v-neck, side tie, and slit. The combination of all things perfect, right?
I paired the dress with black pumps from Zara. The heels feature clear inserts and an ankle strap. I added a lace black choker to the look and for color I tied my a black, yellow and blue scarf around my box shaped bag.
The scarf is from the Target X Who What Wear collection. This look can transition from night to day and can also be dressed down with a pair of flat sandals or sneakers. That’s the beauty of a Little Black Dress, it’s so versatile.
