Sweeties,
Are you guys still recovering from your St. Patty’s Day weekend? Round two of the fun continues today on actual St.Patrick’s Day. I plan to enjoy the Irish culture and all the good luck a girl can stand. But before I get into the fun filled festivities I need to give you “The Rundown” on the beauty and fashion industry. From history making moments to offensive statements from major designers, a lot has transpired over the last week.
Fashion Police Goes On Six Month Hiatus
E!’s Fashion Police can’t catch a break. The comedy series is going on hiatus until September. This may not be a bad idea.
The network announced the decision late Tuesday in a statement:
“We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season. Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with executive producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show into its next chapter for the legions of Fashion Police fans around the world.”
The show has been at the center of controversy after co-host Giuliana Rancic made off color comments about Zendaya Coleman‘s dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscar Awards.
Rancic said the 17-year-old’s hairstyle made her look like she “smelled like patchouli oil or weed.” I’m still shaking my head at that commentary.
The announcement of the show’s six month break comes after co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin called it quits.
There’s an ongoing search to find Griffin and Osbourne’s replacement. Hopefully we can get a co-host of color to join the cast. It’s an effort to bring some balance to the show. [E Online ]

Rihanna may be a pop phenomenon, but she’s also made a name for herself in the fashion and beauty industry. The fashion “IT” girl is a trend setter and her unforgettable style has caught the attention of a major fashion house.

Heidi Klum Launches Lingerie Line
Supermodel Heidi Klum has launched her very own lingerie collection. As a former Victoria Secret model it’s only fitting that she designs a lingerie line.
And it turns out her modeling experience helped her design the perfect set of intimates for the debut collection. The line is a partnership through the intimates company Bendon. Prices range from $59-$99.
Heidi’s bra’s are already a hit. One of her bra’s appeared in the season opener of Scandal.
Remember when Olivia Pope used the under wire from her bra to escape from captivity? Yep, that was a bra from Heidi’s newly launched collection of lingerie. Despite the under wire in the bra being able to open a window, Heidi promises the bra is still comfortable.
She told Access Hollywood, “I love lingerie. I’m a woman and I’ve been modeling lingerie for the past 15 years and so I know a thing or two about lingerie, I feel. And now I get to design my own and I’m super excited about it,” she said, adding, “I tried to make the line sexier even though some of the [styles] women have loved for the last 25 years — I’m gonna keep certain styles and I’m just gonna change the look of them, but I will add a lot of new pieces to the collection.”
More Stars Boycott Dolce & Gabbana
What started as a few celebrities speaking out against Dolce & Gabbana has quickly grown into a laundry list of style stars who are boycotting the fashion house.
In Italy’s Panorama Magazine, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said they, oppose gay adoptions and the only family is the traditional one.
Dolce added that procreation “must be an act of love”, saying: “You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be.
“I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri [for] rent, semen chosen from a catalog.”
Gabbana added: “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”
Stars like Elton John took to social media to discuss their disdain with the brand using the hashtag: #boycottdolcegabbana.
Elton John posted the above picture along with the caption, “Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.” Now that’s a READ.
But the designers are firing back. Dolce and Gabbana told Corriere della Sera that they didn’t expect this coming from someone like Elton John. “I mean, you preach understanding, tolerance and then you attack others? Only because someone has a different opinion? Is this a democratic or enlightened way of thinking? This is ignorance, because he ignores the fact that others might have a different opinion and that theirs is as worthy of respect as his,” said Dolce.
Gabbana, added that the designer’s work should be separate from their opinions. “Either you like somebody’s songs or you don’t. When you go to the greengrocer’s, you don’t make sure that he agrees with your views on IVF.
This is getting nasty. [Us Weekly , Style Caster]
Kerry Washington Set To Play Anita Hill In New HBO Movie
After falling in love with Olivia Pope and the entire Scandal series I almost forgot Kerry Washington acting skills go beyond Thursday nights.
The ultimate Gladiator has been tapped to play Anita Hill, in the 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination hearing. Hill’s testimony in the hearing unveiled shocking allegations of sexual harassment by the now Supreme Court Justice.
According to HBO, the film is titled Confirmation, and the Scandal star is also set to executive produce the telepic.
No word yet on who will play Clarence Thomas or when production will start. We’ll keep you updated as those details become available. Meanwhile, congratulations are order for my favorite lady, Kerry Washington! [The Hollywood Reporter]
I’ll have more on all things beauty, fashion , and entertainment throughout the week.
