Mother Nature is coming out swinging with this HEAT. Seriously, it should be against the law to be this hot! With these insanely brutal temperatures the last thing I want to do is wear makeup, but unfortunately my job calls for it. Did I mention, I work outside about 97 percent of the time? Now you understand my dilemma. I apply makeup at least five days a week and pray to the beauty gawds I don’t have a makeup meltdown. As an added a safeguard and to seal my BEAT I use a setting spray. In the summer months I only use a mattifying spray to down play any shine and contain my oily buildup.

I have four setting sprays that are tried and true and will get the job down. I’m also giving you an honorable mention. Each of these setting sprays are budget friendly and can be found at your local drugstore. Since I wear makeup so often I always consider inexpensive options. Fortunately, drugstore brands are doing the dang-thang and we have several affordable choices. Let’s take a look!

NYX Matte Makeup Setting Spray $8.50

This setting spray is a fan favorite and the closest thing you may find to the Urban Decay, cult favorite. This lightweight setting spray has a matte finish that’s long wearing. It claims to last all day and night. For me I apply my makeup at 3:30am and it lasts beyond my last tv live shot at 12:00pm and I’m shine free. That’s an A+ in my book. Milani Make It Last Matte Charcoal Setting Spray $9

This is the real deal!Milani’s Make It Last Matte Charcoal Setting Spray is expected to keep your makeup in check for 16 hours. That’s two work shifts for me. This setting spray has a dual function. You can use it as a primer and as finishing spray to keep the shine at bay. I use a few spritz on my face and it sets quickly. Your makeup isn’t moving! Plus, this setting spray features micro-fine charcoal powder which will reduce the appearance of pores, and mattify your skin.

Black Radiance Matte Setting Spray $8.50

This setting spray is the second half of my dynamic duo makeup combination. I use Black Radiance’s matte primer as my base and top it all with a few spritz of this matte setting spray. This setting spray promises a smooth, shine -free finish that will last for hours. To get the most out of the product I suggest combining it with black radiance true complexion shine control primer. I cant find it in stores but you can order it online Here.

Elf Matte Magic Mist & Set $5-$7

This was the first setting spray I ever tried. Elf’s Mist and Set spray is packed with with Vitamin B, E, and Arctium Majus Root to help hydrate and soothe your skin. You have to hold the bottle several inches away from your face, then spay. If you’re too close, little droplets can fall on your face. It’s great for the price point.

Honorable Mention

Maybelline FaceStudio Long Lasting Fix Setting Spray $8-$10

I really like this setting spray but the spritzer is not the business. Sometimes it doesn’t spray out evenly. That’s why I’m giving it an honorable mention tag. The actual formula is amazing. It’s super lightweight and promises to last 16 hours. The Maybelline FaceStudio setting spray helps to control my shine and prevents makeup meltdowns. It dries down with a light matte finish. I plan to give this setting spray another purchase. I’m hoping it was just a defected bottle. In the meantime, I transferred the product from this bottle to one of my empty setting spray bottles. I’m about solutions and fixing problems. This problem has been resolved.
