I love all things glam! If its opulent, slightly obnoxious, and full of sparkle, then it’s me. But all the glitz and glam in my closest was purchased in the confines of my budget. I’m a stickler for buying things I can afford. If it’s not in my budget, I’m not buying it. Pretty simple, right? In this outfit of the day, who’s fresher than who world we’re living in, you can easily be sucked in to buying things you really can’t afford. The pressure to fit in with the masses is tough. I’m guilty of it too, but to a certain extent. I sometimes rush to try a new product or shop a collaboration collection, but I never spend more than I should. I’m here to tell you and show you (check the pics and the blog baby) that you can be on trend and stay on budget.
Shop Discount Retailers:
Stores like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls are perfect for finding designer threads for cheaper prices. These stores carry brands like Theory, BCBGMaxazria , and Dior. I swear I Milly Rocked in the middle of the shoe department when I spotted Dior boots on clearance for $100. STEAL
Yes, sometimes shopping in discount stores can be overwhelming, but I can attest that T.J. Maxx and Marshalls have done a lot of work to make sure the stores are organized and easy to navigate.
Shop Clearance Racks:
I love a deal simply put. Don’t get me wrong, the regularly priced items catch my eye and sometime I double back, but I know with a little bit of patience I can snag those same pieces at a discount.
It’s only a matter of time before your favorite regular priced item goes on sale. I must admit you can get burned and miss out. And nothing haunts you more than an piece you didn’t buy, but that’s the chance I take to make sure I’m staying on budget.
Shop Off Season:
Shopping off season has saved me major coins over the years. When it’s spring I’m shopping for winter coats on the clearance racks. When it’s fall I tend to stock up on left over swimwear and sandals. My mom would do this a lot growing up and for the life of me I couldn’t understand why. Now that I’m older with my own budget I understand the method to her madness.
Shop With the Help of Social Media:
I’ve discovered some of the deepest discounts through social media.I follow some of my favorite brands and retailers online. Whenever the store is offering a discount I’m one of the first to know. It guarantees I’ll never miss out on a sale. You can also get the deets about sales delivered straight to your inbox If you sign up for retailer’s newsletters.
*In addition to these tips, I also thrift like its nobody’s business.*
Here’s how I snagged this look for a low price. I bought the Mossimo Supply Cable Knit dress from Target’s clearance rack ($13). The long ribbed cardigan was also from Target’s clearance rack ($8). I bought the cardigan in two colors. I paired the grey with this super warm and very trendy coat from Forever 21. After waiting months for this longline plaid coat to go on sale, I scooped it up for more than half off the original cost. I only paid $21 for the coat, which was originally marked as $62. The boots are from Justfab and I bought these for $40.
