Style Guide: How to Wear Plaid Fashion Trend to Work

We are smack dead in the middle of fall and all of the season’s hottest trends are popping up at our favorite retailers or online shops. One trend that’s seeing another year of life is plaid. The classic print really took off last year and it still has steam this season. The color-ways aren’t just red or green anymore. We’re seeing the print in a variety of colors from bold and bright hues to more subtle and work place safe shades. From blazers to skirts and pants, plaid is really having a moment and I want to show you how you can take part in the wave and rock the trend to work!

From the Racks to Real Life, How to Make Your Pieces Work:

A simple and safe way to werk your plaid piece at work is by going with a plaid bottom. A nice skirt or pants will do the trick! I opted for a nice pair of plaid pants I scored from TJMaxx. The pants were only $16.  Some of you may remember these pants during my dressing room diaries series on Instagram. I loved them the minute I spotted them in the clothing rack and  when I tried them on I knew I couldn’t leave them at the store.

I also stayed with a safe color scheme. The pants are blue, brown and tan plaid print.

I teamed my plaid print pants with two traditional pieces. I paired the pants with a white blouse and classic blue blazer. By sticking with a simple top and jacket it allows my pants to have its moment to shine.

I punctuated my look with a pair of gold Aldo “Stessy” pumps and a navy blue fedora that’s perfect for fall.

Adding the hat and heels was my way a way of letting my personality shine. It adds  my stamp to the look.

This plaid number  works for the office because the pants are paired with simple pieces that aren’t competing for attention. Keeping it simple works in this instance. If you want to add some flare or spice things up, try a metallic heel or even a fall colored jacket. I think a mustard colored jacket like this  would I have also worked for this look.

Ladies, are you feeling plaid this fall? What do you think of this look? Tell me in the comments.
