Fresh On The Scene: Ankara Miami’s 2nd Annual Ankara Fashion & Cultural Show

Sweeties, the other half of Ooh La La had the chance to witness the 2nd annual Ankara Fashion and Cultural show in Miami a few weeks ago (talk about jealous). We’ve waited to share this experience because we wanted to get official pics. The pictures really illustrate the greatness that took place at the FIU Kovens Conference Center. When I say AMAZING, please believe me!

K.Crump says he was only going to support a friend who modeled in the show and fellow Tuskegee alum, Miss Dunnie Onasanya , but he got so much more.

He got live performances,

beautiful artwork,

and haute African fashion.

Can you believe this is the only Ankara Fashion and Cultural show in Florida? The show  gives a platform for emerging and established designers from the African Dispora.

So they’re raising awareness, while keeping folks fly and fabulous. Now that’s my type of event.

Since we’re talking fly and fabulous, lets get into this fashion.  Bright colors, feminine silhouettes, and attention-grabbing pieces….I’m SOLD!

Here are few of my absolute favorites from the night.

Sickening!!! This gown is perfect for a ball or gala. If I get invited to the MET, this could work.

Cocktail chic

Sexy silhouette

I need these  pants pronto!

Fun and flirty!

Here’s a list of all the designers:

Circa24 Collection-
Sumahrie Collection-
Fabian & Mom-
Rare Honey-
Aku/Awa Tees & Beyond-
Nana O. Couture-
AFR Clothing-
JAMA Clothing-
Oyato Designs & Artistry-
Unapologetic Presence-
Splash Boutique-

The event was produced by Ms. Ms. Evelyn Onyejuruwa, Miss Nigeria Florida 2011-2012 (Founder & CEO), Ms. Dunnie Onasanya (Special Events Producer & Public Relations) and Ankara Miami Inc. Staff . Great job all around! We will definitely be back next year. Meanwhile stay connected with Ankara Miami on Twitter and Facebook.
