Life + Style: Three Ways to Ditch Self Doubt and Be Your Own Cheerleader

I’m often reminded that if I continue to work hard I will accomplish all the goals I’ve set out to achieve. Sending me these reminders are people I love and who support my often crazy dreams.I appreciate their encouragement. Seriously, I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude. But I realized I can’t always lean on them to hold me up or root for me. I need to be my own cheerleader. I’m talking the girl that cheers with vigor , passion and true desire to win. It’s essential that we root for ourselves, but it’s not always easy. We let anxiety and doubt get the best of us, but I have three things you can do that make rooting for yourself second nature.

Speak Affirmations over Your Life Daily:

How often do you look in the mirror and tell yourself how wonderful you are? Let me tell you, it’s sounds silly but it will lift your spirits and do wonders for your mental health. I live by positive affirmations. I speak them daily over my life and this has been one of the best things I could have done for myself. Some of favorite affirmations are “Jamiese you will have the victory,” “ Jamiese You Will Win,” and “Jamiese You are Enough.”

I also point out the positive things that are going on in my life to remind myself to be grateful about my life. I remind myself of things I do well or celebrate my wins out loud.I speak these affirmations so I can hear it.

If writing them down works best for you, try jotting down affirmations in a journal. You’ll always have something to refer back to when you’re having a day when you’re not feeling that great about yourself. I hope those days are few and far between.

Stop Doubting Yourself:

Stop doubting your greatness. Girl, you got this and once you start speaking those things out loud you will start believing it too. For every negative thought that comes to your mind, counter it with a positive one.

For example, I’ve said to my said to myself too many times than I would like to admit that I would never get to where I want to be career rise. I had the “it is what it is” mantra. I was in a total rut. That type of thinking was problematic and harmful to my spirit.

I started to replace that feeling of “I will never get promoted” to “When I get promoted,” I plan to do XWY. I also started to say things like, “I can’t wait til this promotion happens.” I changed my doubt to expectancy.

Enjoy Yourself by Yourself:

Ladies, learn to be by yourself. There’s power, strength, and courage in spending time alone. This allows you to learn who you are without distractions or other people’s judgement. It also forces you to lean on yourself and not rely on others.

I’m experiencing this first hand right now. I’ve moved to a city where I don’t know anyone for the fourth time in my adult life. No family. No friends. No one. Let me tell you, making friends as an adult is HARD!

But this experience is helping me get to know myself more, which has showed my how to appreciate myself more.

Nothing says I love me, like spending time alone. Your mental, spiritual, and physical wellness play a major role in helping you live a fulfilled life.

No matter what it looks like or what it feels like , I want you to know you deserve to feel good about yourself. Ladies, I hope these tips helped and remind you to be your own cheerleader!

Living Out Loud,
