The secret is out. I love thrifting! I make weekly stops to area thrift stores and I jokingly made the hashtag #iCanTeachYouHowToThrift. It’s kind of serious. But it wasn’t always that way. Sometimes it was hard for me to see the bigger picture or the beauty in a piece.

Now, I see the light and one of the joys of my thrifting experience is seeing the true essence of each piece while it’s still hanging on the racks. It takes time and it didn’t come easy. Don’t get me wrong, it still has it challenges when it comes to two-pieces though.

I find myself sometimes saying, “I wish I could just buy the pants or the jacket,” but the pieces aren’t sold separately. Well, I finally bit the bullet and purchased this beautiful embellished Marie St. Claire skirt and jacket set.

I’ve never worn the pieces together, but I have worn them separately and each time I SLAYED, especially on my birthday.

This summer I wore the creamed colored lace and beaded pencil skirt with a matching leather bralette. I finished the look with JustFab nude ankle strap sandals.

Who knew this little beaded skirt had this much potential. It’s a beauty, right?

The jacket had me swooning more than the skirt! I cut the original shoulders pads out of the jacket to ditch that structured look.

The first time I wore it (HERE), I paired the jacket with black leather pants and pumps.

This time around I kept things simple and teamed the jacket with my favorite Mossimo distressed jeans. Nude heels sandals also finished this look. This may be my favorite, only because it’s something I would wear over and over again.

Can you believe I achieved three looks from this one set? I’m sure there are a few more I can pull together with just the skirt alone. This one set allowed me to add to my wardrobe and expand my style options.

So ladies on your next thrifting trip, try not to dismiss a look because you don’t instantly see its potential. Drop it in your cart and then think about the possibilities?

Meanwhile, tell me which look you like most and check out my latest thrift store haul video posted on my Facebook page here
