It’s Wednesday and I’m still in recovery mode after experiencing the best homecoming ever. I celebrated by 10 year class reunion at Tuskegee University over the weekend and I’m still paying for it.  I plan to give a complete recap really soon. In the meantime let’s talk work wear as I’m holding on by a thread this work week. Typically I stay away from all black looks because the color doesn’t show well on television, but from time to time I’ll inject the dark hue into my newsroom look. Here are two recent occasions where I slayed in all black at the work place.  Continue Reading »

It’s no secret, I love a sale. I really love deals and discounts. It excites me on a level that should probably be questioned. So imagine the foolery that went down when I walked into Sears, YES SEAR’S . The department store was having the largest sale ever. I literally lost my mind and almost all of my money. The deals were too sweet to walk away from. I’m talking dresses for as low as $3.99. I ended up trying on two baskets full of pieces, but I only walked out with five dresses on my first trip (yes, there was a 2nd trip). The best part is each dress is work-ready and office approved. I’ve already worn three of my fab finds so let’s take a look at each one starting with my favorite .

Over the past 10 months I’ve been working to perfect my makeup routine. I’m so proud of my progress. When I officially learn how to snatch this face , I’ll post pictures of just how much progress I’ve made. Despite my improvements I still have a long way to go before I’m really sculpting this face and winging out this eye like the pros.

In the meantime, I’m trying out products to determine what looks best on me and I’m having so much fun playing with eyeshadow. From high end to drug store brands I love them all.

I must admit I’m super excited when the drug store brands have a high color pay off and that was the case in the three Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios I recently picked up from Rite Aid. Here’s my review of each palette starting with the newest one from Wet N Wild ‘s limited edition fall collection.

It’s starting to feel like a fall. Not the Rochester fall weather I’ve gotten used to, but more of the southern version of fall. I’m experiencing warm days and crisp cool nights. Dressing for the two variations of weather can be tricky. You refuse to wear longer sleeves in the day in fear of getting too hot, but a tank top at night might have you on the cold side. Tricky, right? The best way to win in this weather game is by layering! Here’s how I layered my chic summer pieces with my new fall favorites: Continue Reading »

Style Files: Five Times I Wore All White to Work and Managed to Stay Clean

I’ve never worn white as much as I have this year and now I think I’m hooked. This applies to my weekend wear and my work wardrobe. I’ve probably worn white the most to the office and that’s pretty strange since my work day isn’t spent behind a desk. I spend most of my day around town meeting new people and telling stories that matter to the community. Sometimes that may take me to some strange places and let’s just say my all white look wouldn’t last long. Seriously, I could be a dirt ball before I make it back to the car. For instance , I spent al day Wednesday chasing house fires along side the fire department (arson). Glad I didn’t wear white. But this summer, I went against my better judgement several times and wore all white to work. Check out the five times I dressed in all white everything and managed to stay stain free. Style Files: Keep it Chic and Cheap in a Forever 21 Lace Pencil Skirt and Victoria’s Secret Bodysuit

I play about a lot of things, but never my coins. That’s why I believe in keeping things chic and cheap. I work hard to find steals, deals, and discounts to make sure I’m on trend and on budget. I believe you can still look amazing without breaking the bank. Here’s example number 1,000,001 Continue Reading »
