I’ve been waiting on consistent cold weather, like a kid waits for Christmas. We’ve had a few cool days, but two days later it’s back in the high 60’s or low 70’s. I’m not really complaining , but it would be great to experience winter like weather for at least a month. Because this weather changes like the wind, I haven’t put away some of my summer clothes. I haven’t technically unloaded my cold weather items either. Not to mention, figuring out what to wear is a headache. I’m talking drama-filled, especially when it comes to work. Continue Reading »

I’m a frugal fashionista. I love deals, discounts, sales, and any other way I can possibly save a coin. Simply put I like to style for the low and that’s why this fashion-forward frugal shopper LIVES for retailers like Target. I would literally visit two to three Target stores a week in Rochester. Every now and then I would pick up household goods, but I was truly there for the bomb pieces in the women’s department. Seriously, at one point my work wardrobe was strictly Target originals. Of those two years going rack to rack, I’ve never noticed the brand “Fashion Union.” It wasn’t until moving back to Bama that I discovered this hip and very affordable brand. OMG people! I. Love. It. And of course I had to add a few pieces to my cart. Here’s what I picked up. Continue Reading »

There are a few things that instantly make me smile. Sequins and polka dots are at the top of that list. Who doesn’t love a little sparkle? Plus, polka dots scream girly-girl. I remember one summer I had a crazy romance with the print. Literally every week I was dressed in some variation of polka dots. Recently, I was able to pair two of my favorite things together and the results were amazing.

I’m a 30 something woman and I’m still struggling with what to wear. It’s the same problem I was faced with throughout high school. Seriously, what should I wear is the question of my life. Here’s what I take into consideration: weather, comfort, and style. I hate to wear my favorite summer dress on a wet and gloomy day. I want to be comfortable, while maintaining my personal style. But nine times out of 10, style always trumps comfort.

I keep all of this in mind, plus a few factors when selecting my work wardrobe. As an on-air journalist, I’m mindful of how my look will work for television. Sometimes certain prints can be too busy. I also wear fitted pieces to show off my figure, because TV really adds 10 pounds.

Yes I know it’s spring and I should be dipping and diving into pastels, but I’m not there yet. I will be, but right now i’m sticking with my neutral palette. I even wore all black on Easter. Fix it Jesus. Recently I wore another look straight from neutral closet. This time I wore three shades of grey for a look that was on trend and definitely on budget. Continue Reading »

I’m so excited to ring in the new year! The last few months of 2015 have been a doozy to say the least. From my very recent cross country move to the loss of my baby girl Lizzy Lou, I’ve been super busy and on an emotional roller coaster. Needless to say, I’m forgoing any major pomp and circumstance this New Year’s Eve. I’m laying low. I plan to create a vision board, sip wine, and countdown til 2016.

I know I’m the small number that’s staying in for the night, but for those who are celebrating the start of the New Year,I have you covered for those last minute “What to wear woes.” Continue Reading »
